Since the middle of 2021, weltwärts exchanges have no longer taken place under the umbrella of weltwärts. Youth Exchange for Sustainable Development has since been offered through the African-German Youth Office.
Youth group encounters still suspended
Implementation of projects remains limited
The three-month suspension of all face-to-face encounters that has been in place since mid-March as part of the weltwärts extracurricular exchange projects will be extended until 31 August 2020. Virtual encounters are of course still possible.
Due to the continuing national and above all international restrictions on mobility, all encounters between youth groups from Germany and the Global South will continue to be suspended. The current arrangement is therefore extended until 31 August 2020.
Even if individual loosening of the restrictions in connection with the Corona pandemic is partly taking place at local level, the further development is not predictable at present, especially in a global context.
Projects that have been started are currently being continued digitally in a variety of creative ways, and youth groups continue to exchange information in this way. Despite the fact that personal encounters are not possible for the time being, the joint work can be continued online.
